Bill Clinton formally known as William Jefferson Clinton is an American Politician and the 42nd president of America between 1993- 2001, where he served for two years.

He is well known as the New Democrat, with his policies mainly considered political philosophy in centrist ‘Third Way’ mantra.

Early Life

Bill Clinton was born on August 19th, 1946 at Julia Chester Hospital in Arkansas. He was named William Jefferson Blythe III.

His father, a traveling salesman, William Jefferson Blythe Jr was involved in a road accident which died three months before Bill was born.

His mother, Virginia Dell Cassidy (Virginia Kelly), traveled to New Orleans soon after she gave birth to Bill Clinton to study nursing, leaving him behind with her parents Eldridge and Edith Cassidy.

His mother later returned and married Roger Clinton Sr. He owned an automobile shop in Arkansas. Bill formally adopted the surname Clinton from his Step-father when he was 15 years.

His step-father was, however, an alcoholic, gambler, and very abusive toward his mother and half brother Roger Clinton Jr. He, on several occasions, threatened his step-father to protect them.

Bill Clinton attended Ramble and St. Johns Elementary Schools before proceeding to Hot Springs High School. While in high school, he actively involved himself in music and student leadership.

He also played a Tenor Saxophone. His love for law and politics sparked when he first watched Martin Luther King Jr’s ‘I Have a Dream’ Speech and when he had a chance to visit and meet president J.F. Kennedy in the White House.

After High School, he attended Georgetown University to study Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and became the class president.

In 1968, Bill Clinton got admission to Oxford University to study politics. Still, he did not graduate until 1994 when he was president.

It is in oxford that Bill discovered his interest in Rugby.

He later joined Yale University in 1973 to study law. He met Hillary Rodham, his wife at Yale University.

Career

Bill Clinton got his first job in the 172 presidential elections as a coordinator for George McGovern’s campaign team.

He was also a law professor at the University of Arkansas. In 1974, he ran for house representatives position, but he lost to John Paul Hammerschmidt, garnering 48% of the total votes.

Later in 1976, he was elected the Arkansas Attorney General. Bill entered the Arkansas gubernatorial race in 1978.

He won the elections, becoming the second-youngest governor of Arkansas.

By that time, he was public figure especially to the New Democrats that saw him become the chairman of the National Governor Association in 1985

Bill Clinton won the presidential election in the United States in 1992 by winning against the incumbent Republican George W. Bush.

His win put an end to the twelve years republican rule in the White House. His first term lasted from 1993 to 1997, where he was re-elected again to serve his send term that ended in 2001.
